Mashups are by far the most diverse of any music genre that exists. Period. The only real qualification to be a mashup is that the song has more than one song playing at the same time. Not to be confused with mixtapes where it changes to a different song, mashups often take the vocals from one song and add the instrumentals of another.

For a good starter I would recommend listening to this awesome mashup between Cobra Starship and Michael Calfan.

you make me feel- Cobra Starship, and Michael Calfan – Resurrection (Axwell’s Re-Cut Club Version)

My longtime favorite artist is 5 & a dime. Here’s some of his album Ear Candy. If you like this album, be sure to look at the rest of his songs they are all just as awesome as this one and they are all FREE

I’d recommend listening to “my chick gets buck in here” if you’re a fan of ludacris, timbaland, or akon.

My other  main artist for mashups is Milkman. His mashups don’t change quite as fast as 5 & a dime, but they almost always flow so amazingly if you haven’t heard the original songs behind them, you’d guess these were original.

Love struck

and my favorite, Lights out

This next song is an absolutely amazing combination of songs based on “satisfaction” -benny benassi . It combines rap to begin and then adds some guns and roses, then that earth wind and fire song that every body loves and then some other song I don’t really know. It is one of my all time favorites.

Touch

If you like lil wayne and that song “beamer, benz or bentley” then you might like 5 & a dime’s mashup of them. I personally hate the lyrics of “beamer, benz or bentley” so this song is perfect for me.

This song is amazing if you turn up the bass and blast it in your car.

I’m going in a beamer, benz, or bentley

Well there it is. If you actually listened to all those songs, right now you’re probably either thinking, “This is awful! He’s ruined all these awesome songs!” or you are completely zoned out by awesome they are and how you’ve never found them earlier.

If you really loved these songs check out the artists and other mashup artists like Dj dibella, and the most famous of them, 3lau.

If you really didn’t like these songs, that’s too bad for you. Seriously though, there are an infinite number of songs that could be put together so you’re bound to find one you like if you just look for it.

All Kinds Of Stuff!

Recently I’ve found mainly hip hop songs but I’m going to post as many various genres that I’ve found anything in to mix it up.

Electronic:

1. Somebody I used to know (The FatRat remix)

you’ve definately heard the original version of this song, it’s been on the top ten for the past few weeks and I personally think the original is a little slow. I love this one because it makes an amazing version of the song that has more energy

2. The suburbs (arcade Fire cover)- mr. little Jeans

This song has very strong synths and I think it sounds really nice to just blast.

Hip-Hop

1. Numbers- logic

This song is pretty new and I really love the flow of this song. Many other music blogs might say this song goes under the “chill” section.

2. White cup- Nicholas Ingram

I found this song very recently and I absolutely love it. As someone who really enjoys the slow heavy songs, I can’t get this song out of my head.

Indie/Random

1. Float- KOKO

This song is a perfect example of what most indie music is like, a little catchy and usually pretty basic.

2. The Seed 2.0- The Roots

Many people seem to have liked this song so far. I don’t know if it is a classic from a while back that’s been remade but it’s getting alot of attention and I think it’s great!

So that’s a very small portion of the music I’ve been listening to, and to leave it off here is my new favorite pump up song.

hip hop

I was going to post some dubstep music, but I haven’t really found anything that good recently so instead here is som hip hop.

There are many new up and coming artists in this genre. Mike Stud, W.E.E.D., IanJ, and Sam Adams are some of the ones I like. You’re probably thinking, “what kind of a name is W.E.E.D?” Even though their name is a little iffy, their music has a lot less mature content than most mainstream music you’ll hear. In fact they even made an awesome song with someone who happened to win the grammy for song of the year, Adele

Azad Right has also released a very relaxing rap to a classic spinners song. Even though his lyrics aren’t the best, the vocals sound very nice and the music is really peacful.

Azad Right- I’ll be around

If neither of these strike your fancy then you might be a fan of mike stud. Mike Stud uses a lot of metaphors and similes that make him sound like he put effort into his raps. He is my favorite hip hop artist and he has a wide range of sounds. Turn the bass up on his song “On Top of the City”

He also goes kind of inbetween peacful and partying with one of my favorites “Bottle It Up” This song really strikes me because he talks about how he messed his relationship with the girl he loves and tries to fight his emotions drinking. I know it might sound dumb, but I respect this guy. Not many rappers can write something like this and sell it like he does.

What’s this about?

Ever since I heard my first remix of a song, I was hooked. It was in July in 09 and the song was holiday (nero remix) by dizzee rascal. I had grown up only listening to rock, and anything that you could hear on the radio. After that day I realized there were many more types of music out there than I hadn’t even heard about. There was drum and bass, dubstep, hip-hop, mashups, trance, and even country! Most people haven’t heard of these and that is why I’m going to introduce them to you. In this blog I will be posting music from various artists and hopefully you’ll find some songs you like.

First off is drum and bass. Sometimes called DNB, Drum and Bass is very fast paced with a drum beat and electronic sounds. If your someone who wants to just head bang and dance like crazy then this genre might be for you. Pendulum, Netsky, and Nero are just a few of the big names I can think of. UKF Drum and Bass on youtube is one of the best places to find it.  I found this sound a couple days ago, and it makes a very good example. Make sure you turn up the volume and wait till you hear the drums start beating.  Hot Right Now- Dj Fresh  The music video involves some awesome break dancing and I’d rate this song as an 9/10.

Dubstep is the one you’ve probably heard the most about. Most people either love it or they absolutely hate it. I personally think most dubstep sounds like trash except for a few remixes. Skrillex, Excision, and Flux pavillion are among the most successful of these artists. Skrillex has had albums on itunes top 10 and his song Kyoto is number 70 right now. If you’re a hardcore dubstep fan then you’ll love Syndicate- Skrillex. Fun Fact, this music is under the same genre of music as Lady Gaga. That seems a little strange don’t you think? I’d give it a 8/10 just because it is such a nice banger. Dubstep is a very diverse genre and it can be slower and sound very different like the song Eyes on Fire(Zeds Dead remix)- Blue Foundation. I would rate this as a 7.5/10 because the remix doesn’t change the original song majorly, but it has a very nice flow.

Dubstep remixes have become a fad all over the internet. From the Pokemon theme song, to Harry potter and even Stawberry fields by the beatles, dubstep remixes have become utterly ridiculous. We’ll go over that more next time.
